An urban festival celebrating sustainable living!
Time & Location
03 Nov 2019, 10:00 – 16:00
25hours Hotel Zürich West, Pfingstweidstrasse 102, 8005 Zürich
About the event
It was recently announced by WWF Switzerland that we did in fact exhaust all natural resources at our disposal for 2019 by May 7th, in what has been labeled as Overshoot Day. The day Switzerland overshoot its natural resources and started to ‘live’ on credit. Data included showed that on average the Swiss population travel 3x more than other European cities and is one of the largest producers of waste in the world. Zurich has recently committed to a climate change plan as well as other sustainable initiatives that will allow us to move to a more sustainable future.
Join us for the first Sustainability Fest Zurich to learn and discuss how we can make more sustainable choices when it comes to our wellness, consumption and imprint on our beautiful planet.
In collaboration with the 25hours Hotel Zurich West, Melanie Watkins & HealthyHER, we welcome you to Sustainability Fest, an urban festival celebrating sustainable living and encouraging new thinking and new inspiration on how to live in a more sustainable way.
An exciting day is planned that begins with a mindful yoga practice followed by a plant based brunch designed especially for the festival by the chefs at 25hours Hotel Zurich West. A sustainability panel of speakers has been invited to host interactive workshops on topics of public interest such as sustainable food, fashion & urbanism. Other activities to get involved in on the day include sustainable fashion swap, community imprint installation and the sustainable market place.

Most recently, she was the founding Executive Director of the World Food System Center at ETH Zurich, where she now continues part-time as Education Director and teaching faculty. Jayde Scukovic, Sustainable Fashion Influencer @jayde_archives
Jayde is an Australian influencer living in Switzerland and on a journey to live a happier, simpler and more eco friendly life. Through her social media channels, she takes a down to earth approach to sustainable fashion, believing that progress is more important than perfection. During Jayde’s workshop she will talk about the hidden realities of the fast fashion industry and the impact it’s having on the environment, as well as small changes we can all start to incorporate into our lives to help make a cumulative difference. In slowing down our fashion consumption we can not only make a positive impact on the environment but also on our mindsets and wallets.
Franziska Heidenreich, Sustainability Expert at Myclimate Switzerland
Franziska Heidenreich is the head of climate protection projects at mylimate.org. She joins our speaking team to give insight into Switzerland's commitment to sustainable futures. Franzie will share Zurich's plan for climate change and how we as a community and as an individual can lower our footprint. You will be asked a series of questions at checkout to aid us in combining our environmental imprint into a visual representation at Sustainability Fest.
Our Food
An exciting vegan brunch menu has been designed especially for this event by the chefs at 25hours Hotel Zurich West. The 25hours hotels are committed to sustainable practices and have worked closely with the chefs to provide us with nourishing foods that are good for our body and for the planet. Afternoon tea & refreshments will also be provided.
Our Activities
Morning Yoga with Chantal will be themed around sustainable movement. Moving in a way that encourages vitality rather then depletion. Mindful movement that is about nourishing the body from a place of acceptance rather then from a place of restriction and extreme measures.
Sustainable Fashion Clothes Swap
We ask that each attendee brings one item with them to the event as part of our clothes swap revolution. Why not start our sustainable initiatives today? Along with your item - we ask that you write a small letter that tells the new owner a little bit about the story behind this item. Where it was purchased and any memory you have of this item. Items will be collected on arrival for the afternoon swap!
Market Place
We have asked some of Switzerland’s sustainable brands to showcase some of their products as part of the festival. You are free to browse, sample or make purchases of sustainable products. Kuerzi Kakao, Thoughts of September & The Good Witch are a few of the Swiss brands that will be making a showcase in our pop up market.
Community Imprint Installation
An interactive art installation of consumption and imprint will be displayed at the festival for your reflection and contribution. For this to be successful we ask you to answer a few questions when you purchase your ticket so that the data can be added.
Included
All activities, food, refreshments etc are included in your ticket price.
